Three cheers to Team Oban who stepped up to this year’s Big Step Forward 24-hour walkathon in aid of Pancreatic Cancer UK. This week’s Oban Times has a cracking gallery of photos from the day that saw the team, including some folks as far away as in Norway and Australia, pulling together to double their combined target to more than £10,000. We also have news of Oban Seil croft DJ MacDougall who is going to pipe five miles from the Bridge Over The Atlantic on Seil to the seafront at Ellenabeich to raise funds for the work of the Easdale branch of Royal British Legion Scotland and if you like history and mystery you will enjoy reading about Suzie Collins from Barcaldine who is waiting to hear news from the Treasure Trove about her latest find which could be a mediaeval ring brooch. Ellis breaks the sad news that Chalmers, a prominent presence on Oban’s main street is to close its doors for the last time and Fiona has a run down of this week’s sports pages.
