Oban’s Abi Evans and Glencoe’s Helen Nelson were part of the Scotland Women 7s squad which recently claimed third place in the second leg of the Rugby Europe Sevens Championship Series in Moscow.

After producing some impressive performances during the opening day – Scotland 24-5 Wales; Spain 14-29 Scotland; Scotland 33-5 Romania – the girls were outplayed by Poland, 29-14, and hosts Russia, 22-5, on day two.

Scotland finished fourth in the overall championship and with the event doubling as a European regional qualifying event for Birmingham 2022, the result means they are eligible to compete in the Commonwealth Games, subject to an invitation from the Commonwealth Games Federation.
