Oban’s Robert MacIntyre tees up today (Thursday) in the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open at the start of a run of three tournaments that will go a long way to deciding whether he secures a spot for this year’s Ryder Cup.

Sitting just outside the automatic qualifying places in the European and world ranking tables, Bob will be aiming to build on his solid performance in the recent US Open and cement a place in Padraig Harrington’s team for the September showdown in the USA.

The Irish Open is followed by the Aberdeen Standard Investments Scottish Open at the Renaissance Club in North Berwick and then it is on to the big one – the 149th Open Championship at Royal St George’s Golf Club in Kent.

With double Ryder Cup qualification points up for grabs in all three tournaments, July could be a season defining month for Bob and all of Oban will be cheering him on.
