Working together is what Lochaber Chamber of Commerce is all about.
We work to support and connect businesses to help grow our local economy and benefit our whole community.
Naturally, we are very excited about the recent announcement of Visit Scotland’s new ‘Destination and Sector Marketing Fund’ set up to help the sustainable recovery of tourism in Scotland.
This £3million marketing fund is to help cities, destination marketing organisations and local marketing groups promote their areas and aid sustainable tourism recovery. The fund is part of a wider Scottish Government support package being delivered by VisitScotland.
Coronavirus has forced a monumental shift in the tourism industry and as we map our recovery we must recognise that we are now operating in a new tourism landscape. With international travel restrictions set to continue, stimulating domestic visitor demand and extending the season are crucial to Scotland’s immediate tourism recovery.
The objective of the new Destination and Sector Marketing Fund is to encourage destination and sector groups to collaborate to develop strong visitor propositions that respond to identified post-Covid trends.
These trends include wellness tourism, artisan food and drink, local and authentic experiences, voluntourism (a holiday with some element of volunteer work) and workcationing (working from home in a different location). With all our wonderful attractions and activities, stunning locations, and excellent hospitality, we’ve got a lot of options to focus on.
As the guidance is all about collaboration and working together, we’re pleased that we are liaising with the area’s different marketing groups with a collective aim of making sure that Lochaber, the Outdoor Capital of the UK, maximises this amazing opportunity for our whole community.
