Our beautiful flower baskets and troughs are up now, adding to the general bonnyness of our town and little bay.
Some sunshine, some visitors and we’re all ready to go for a fantastic summer season – sunshine is the only unpredictable aspect of this, so we just have to pray and keep our fingers crossed.
We even have some events to look forward to with Oban Comedy Festival starting on June 24, the Oban Games returning in August and Motorfest in September.
There is another event in September but I don’t know if I’m allowed to mention it yet, so I’ll keep it under my hat for the moment. On top of all that we have Peat and Diesel and Del Amitri to look forward to in the Corran Halls later in the year – getting to hear live music again will make my happiness complete, and I’m sure I’m not alone in that.
If everything continues to go well we may even have a number of cruise ships with British passengers visiting over the next few months. Hopefully there will be an announcement by the end of June to let us know if that can happen. I’m really hoping so as there is a fantastic buzz to the town when we have a gorgeous big ship sitting in the bay and little boats ferrying people to and fro. It might all have to be done a little differently this year but with care and consideration shown by everyone I’m sure we can do it safely and continue to get back to normal.
The photograph last week was of the fantastic new fence at The Whisky Vaults beer garden, it’s a work of art.
This week it may be just a little bit harder to spot where this is.
