The Camanachd Association has announced the venues for the next three Tulloch Homes Camanachd Cup finals.

Current government restrictions on events were considered at recent association board meetings. However, recent events guidance from the Scottish Government helped confirm the intended location, subject to Scottish Government Guidance, for the 2021 Tulloch Homes Camanachd Cup Final as Oban.

Whilst the final could have taken place in Kingussie this year, as was originally planned, it was the size and scale of a planned music festival, with close to 1,000 tickets already sold, mostly all-day tickets, set up to complement the shinty spectacle that was simply not feasible under current government event guidance. As a result, it was agreed to defer the event until 2022 when hopefully both events can take place.

Camanachd Association president Steven MacKenzie said: ‘I am delighted to announce the 2021 Camanachd Cup Final will take place at Mossfield Stadium, Oban, on Saturday Septmeber 18. We have significant support from Argyll and Bute and some incredible people that make Oban a great destination for our final. It is a traditional heartland and the perfect location to manage an event of this importance’.

George Fraser, Tulloch Homes chief executive officer, said: ‘Everyone in the shinty world must be delighted we are within touching distance of a return to competitive matches. The announcement of the next three finals demonstrates the planning that has taken place within the association and with clubs and partners.’

Derek Keir, Camanachd Association chief executive officer said: ‘An event like the Tulloch Homes Camanachd Cup final cannot work without an incredible sponsor and support from the area. The support to host an event of this scale is now conditional under existing civic government legislation and we have already started work on our intended plans for this year’s final in Oban.’

The 2023 Camanachd Cup Final will take place at the Bught Park, Inverness.
