Saturday saw a tentative return to competitive shinty across the Highlands with Ballachulish Shinty Club welcoming players to Jubilee Park for the first time since October 12 2019.
Kilmallie Shinty Club were the visitors for the Iain Aitchison Memorial Trophy, played annually in recognition of the late Iain Aitchison who played for both clubs.
And before throw-up there was a minute’s silence to remember former players Norman (Naggy) MacKenzie and Iain Jackson.
Kilmallie ran out 5-0 winners with goals from Innes Blackhall (2), Lewis Birrell (2) and Callum MacDougall.
Ballachulish goalie Kenny Michie was under constant pressure from the start of the match and made spectacular saves throughout.
At the conclusion of play, the trophy was presented to Kilmallie captain Innes Blackhall by Iain’s grandson Lewis.
Ballachulish Shinty Club thank Deek Cameron for refereeing and wish the best of luck to both teams for the upcoming season.
There were no spectators at the game as a result of Covid restrictions.
