LiveArgyll Active Schools and Sport team is looking for volunteers to help deliver extracurricular sport and physical activity to pupils.
Gillian Walker, Oban Lorn and the Isles and Tiree Active Schools Co-ordinator, said: ‘Sport and physical activity plays such an important part in keeping us healthy and provides a community focus enabling fun, fitness and social interaction.
‘The global pandemic has had a huge impact on the physical and mental health of so many, but perhaps more so on the younger population. Now that we are just about out the other side, we are all hoping to get back to as near normal as possible.’
Schools provide much-needed sport and activity for young people and, with the support of the Active Schools and Sport team, many of the pupils around Argyll and Bute can access a variety of opportunities.
At the heart of this provision are volunteers and their value cannot be underestimated.
‘Volunteering can promote health, improve confidence and life satisfaction and can help you develop new skills and increase your employability,’ explained Gillian.
‘Being a volunteer can also lead to accessing qualifications. You do not have to have any previous experience, just an enthusiasm to make a difference.’
All volunteers will be supported fully by the Active Schools and Sport team. If you have some time on your hands and would like to be involved in helping the young people of Argyll and Bute improve their lives, please get in touch.
You can reach the Active Schools and Sport Team by email at email@example.com.
