Community newspaper Dé tha dol? will be back in print in July with a new committee and a new editor, following a wave of public support.
The monthly publication, which was established in 1981, kept Sunart, Moidart, Ardnamurchan and Morvern up to date with communty news in the days before the internet.
Popular with residents, visitors and those with a connection to the area, Dé tha dol?, meaning what’s going on?, was in print for 11 months of the year. During lockdown, however, the paper faced a combination of rising costs and dwindling sales leading to the former committee taking the tough decision to stop printing and invite input from the community and subscribers regarding the future of the newspaper.
The response was overwhelming. At a public meeting held online in March, a new management committee was formed following support for the continuation of the newspaper on social media and from subscribers.
Newly elected chairperson Joanne Matheson said: ‘It has been excellent to have so much support and feedback.
‘The new committee has met three times and we are pleased to report we have adopted a new constitution and approved a job description for an editor post which we will be advertising soon.
‘We look forward to issuing our first printed edition of Dé tha dol? in July.’
