Events are a huge part of the work of a Chamber of Commerce, whether that’s training and skills seminars, updates on key issues of the day, ministerial meetings, or sociable networking lunches.
At Lochaber Chamber we’re proud of our track record of providing a wide range of events for the benefit of our members, across the sectors.
For over a year we’ve been delivering events virtually rather than in person. While this has its obvious drawbacks, virtual delivery also opens up a range of opportunities to share training and specialist events with a wider audience who don’t need to travel to attend.
Last week was our busiest week of events yet. We started off with Checking In, Not Checking Up, an online leadership masterclass that focused on top tips to empower and support ours team to success when working remotely.
On Tuesday evening we held our first Virtual Election Hustings and were pleased that so many members from all sectors joined us online to hear our local candidates answer the questions submitted in advance. The event went really well and we’re very grateful to our Chamber president Bruno Bertarelli, for his excellent chairing of the event.
On Wednesday our DYW West Highlands team led a successful careers insight webinar Highland Hospitality Wants You! for young people aged 14-25 to highlight the wide range of opportunities in the local hospitality sector. This event showcased the latest jobs, apprenticeships, and training courses available in the west highlands.
On Thursday our event A Meeting of Minds 2 explored opportunities and innovation in Scottish aquaculture. We were joined by more than 120 attendees to hear more about exciting developments, from new innovations and applications of technology to contributing to the circular economy, the event was brimming over with ideas for collaboration and sustainability.
