Fort William Town Team members were out in force on Saturday as the Big Spring Clean got under way.

The event was a culmination of a month-long clean-up around Lochaber, organised by members of the group.

Around 20 people combed the High Street for litter with individuals, community groups and businesses pulling together to rid the area of rubbish. It was the best turnout for the annual event so far.

Karen Dean, Town Team secretary, said: ‘We thank everyone who has given up their time recently to tidy Fort William and Lochaber.

‘Individuals, community groups and business have done an amazing job to rid the area of unnecessary rubbish and we really hope it stays that way.

‘It was fantastic to see the community come together, give up their time and make our wee town a nicer place to live.’

An enormous amount of cigarette ends and rubber bands were found during the clean up. They are diffiuclt to clear and the team is asking people to be considerate and think of others when they are out and about.
