A lick of fresh paint 100ft above Oban was all in a day’s work for these workmen painting the town’s distinctive distillery chimney.

Keen photographer and Keep Oban Beautiful (KOB) stalwart Maurice Wilkins caught the birdseye shot on camera for The Oban Times.

‘It feels good to be spring cleaning in preparation for when we can once again open our doors and invite our friends in to celebrate our Oban whisky production,’ said distillery operations manager Ronnie Whiteford.

The paint job was part of an annual inspection to keep the tall chimney spic, span and safe and KOB hopes people will follow the distillery’s lead by joining in a social-distancing clean up of the town this weekend.

Covid means the usual co-ordinated Spring Clean community event cannot happen this year again, but KOB is encouraging people to get out on their own or in their bubbles to pitch in with litter-picking.

Send your ‘keep it tidy’ photos to KOB’s Facebook with vouchers as prizes from BID4Oban and Hinba for the best ones.
