At a time where accurate information about Covid-19 was vital to our community, this was the right decision – even though it meant a drop in our income. BROWN – Unexpectedly at Lochside Care Home, Helensburgh, on January 25, 2021, Marie Flora Brown, née Fraser, in her 80th year, of Soroba House, Ardfern and formerly of The Monachs, Nerabus, Isle of Islay and Benbecula. Dearly loved wife of Ronnie Brown, and much loved mother of Audrey, Fergus and Ewen. Adored Granny of Archie, George, Findlay, Callaghan, Honor, Holly, Ronnie and Frank. A private funeral service will take place at Kilvaree Cemetery, Ardfern, on Friday, February 26, 2021. For those wishing to pay their respects, the funeral cortege will pass through Ardfern Village at approximately 11.30am, departing Craignish Parish Church, Ardfern at 11.40am.
BROWN – Ian George Brown (Tosh), of Oban, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 11, 2021 at home, George was 72. He was born on January 6, 1949 in London to Robert Lister Brown and Annie MacDonald Brown, George, brother to Robert Duncan Brown. He attended Rockfield Primary School prior to Oban High School. In 1968 he married Marion Sinclair, and together they had four children, Robert, Malcolm, Ian and Alan. George worked as a builder for all his working life before retiring through ill health in 2015, George will be greatly missed not just by his family, but by all who knew him.
CLARK – Sadly on Tuesday, February 9, 2021, Jimmy Clark passed away peacefully at Longsdale Terrace, Oban. Sadly missed by all. Due to current restrictions a private funeral service will be held. Family flowers only.
CRAIG – Suddenly at his home, on January 22, 2021, Matthew Harper Craig, in his 88th year, of Failte, Lochgair. Beloved son of the late Matthew Craig and Mary Jane MacVicar. Dear brother of the late John, Maisie, Elspeth and Sheena. A dearly loved uncle and great-uncle. A good neighbour and dear friend to many. A private funeral service will be held at Kilevin Cemetery, Crarae on Monday, March 1, 2021. For those wishing to pay their respects, the funeral cortege will pass through Lochgair Village at approximately 12 noon. Please observe social distancing.
MACINTYRE – Donald Roderick (Ruaridh). Beloved husband of Mairead and much loved dad and papa, passed away peacefully at home in his 89th year, after a long illness bravely fought. Forever in our hearts and thoughts. Family flowers only please. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made directly to Cancer Research UK if desired.
MACKENZIE – Fort William and Corby. It is with great sadness that the family of Roddy announces his peaceful passing on January 27, 2021 at home in Corby, aged 89. Beloved husband of Pat, dear brother, brother-in-law and uncle of Winnifred, Charlie and family.
MALCOLM – C.A.R. (Kim). Died peacefully, following a long illness, in the Belford Hospital on Thursday, February 11, 2021, aged 88. A much loved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather. Will be missed by all the family, friends and the whole community. The funeral will be held at St Adamnan’s Church, Duror on Friday, February 26, 2021 at 1pm. McKELLAR – Suddenly at home on Friday, February 12, 2021, Dunstan (Don), aged 82. Beloved husband of Mary (née MacDonald), loving dad to Kirsteen and Cameron, much loved Grampa and Papa to Calum, Fergus and Wee Calum. Dear brother and uncle. Sorely missed.
McMILLAN – Peacefully at the Lorn and Islands Hospital, Oban, on December 30, 2020, Mary Bertram, in her 88th year, 7 Craigard Apartments, Oban and formerly of Shore Road, Carradale, dearly beloved wife of the late Donald McMillan (Donlie) and much loved aunt.
MILLAR – Morag, died peacefully at Hillside Nursing Home, Paisley on Monday, February 8, 2021. Loving sister to Flora, sister-in-law to Dale and aunt to Iain and family in Perth, Australia. A burial service will be held at Kilbrandon Cemetery, Balvicar, Argyll on Monday, February 22.
WILLIAMSON – Peacefully at the Belford Hospital, Fort William on February 14, 2021.
Elizabeth (Libby) aged 80, a much loved mum to Harvey and Jason and daughters-in-law Juliet and Daisy, a cherished grandmother to five grandsons and a dear friend to many, who will be deeply missed by all who knew her. The funeral service will take place in private on Friday, February 26. The family ask that those who wish to pay their respects do so as we pause at the large car park beside the Moorings Hotel at around 12.30pm. Family flowers only please. Donations can be made directly to Friends of Nevis via their website if desired. A celebration of Libby’s life will take place at a later date.
YOUNG – (Inverness). After a long and worthwhile life, spent in the service of others, Miss Lexie Young passed away at the advanced age of 96 years. The eldest of three children born to the late Alexander and Lily, she outlived both her brother Norman and sister Sybil by some years. Mourned by kin both here in Scotland and abroad, she is survived by her nephew and nieces and their immediate family. Her funeral took place on Monday, February 15, and she was laid to rest close by her late sister and brother-in-law in Morefield Cemetery in the Parish of Lochbroom, Ross-shire. Arrangements by John Fraser & Son of Chapel Street, Inverness.
EVANS – Janet, Jane and Claire wish to thank all relatives, neighbours and friends near and far for the beautiful flowers, letters and condolence cards following the sudden death of our beloved Lloyd. Sincere thanks to Catriona for her support and advice, to Father James MacNeil for a comforting service, Rev Cringles (organ) Jamie MacGregor (piper) and Emma MacGregor (reading) also all those who paid their respects on Soroba Road, outside the Cathedral and Corran Halls. LEECH – Carol and family sincerely thank the carers, all at our hospital and medical centre for the skilled care and kindness for Bill, for which he was most grateful, particularly thanking Hilary Brown and Dr Anne Kjerrstrom. Thanks to Hamish Hoey’s, especially Catriona, for caring guidance and professionalism. Thanks to those who paid their respects to Bill and for the many tributes and comforting messages. Heartfelt appreciation to Rev. Andy Campbell and Rev. Dugald Cameron for thoughtful services, to Alex Clark for moving eulogy and Emily D’Silva for the recording. Bill will be so much missed.
MACCOLL – The family of the late Angus MacColl (Innes) would like to thank all of their relatives, friends and neighbours for their kind sympathy and support following our sad loss. All cards, flowers and home baking were much appreciated. Special thanks to Rev. Amanda Fairclough for a lovely service at St Adamnan’s Church. Duncan Gunn for his kind professionalism in arranging the funeral. Kerr Jameson for playing the organ and Innes’s nephew Angus MacColl for playing the pipes at the cemetery. MACDONALD – Alistair. Rosalin and the family of the late Alistair MacDonald, Glencoe who passed away unexpectedly but peacefully on February 2, 2021 at Ian Charles Hospital, Grantown on Spey would like to express their thanks to Beth and Jamie and all staff at Manson and MacBeath for their professionalism and empathy in the arrangements of the funeral service at Duror Cemetery on February 10, 2021. Also Donald MacKinnon who delivered a comforting service at Duror, the talented piper James Rosie, the beautiful floral tribute from MacDonald Bros, the representatives from the Scots Guards Regiment and to all who turned out on the day in Glencoe and at Duror to say farewell to Alistair. Also to piper John McCallum who stood and piped by the roadside at Ballachulish as Alistair made his final journey to Duror. The family appreciates all the cards, flowers, gifts and expressions of sympathy from family, friends, neighbours and from further afield.
