Want to read more?

At the start of the pandemic in March we took the decision to make online access to our news free of charge by taking down our paywall. At a time where accurate information about Covid-19 was vital to our community, this was the right decision – even though it meant a drop in our income. In order to help safeguard the future of our journalism, the time has now come to reinstate our paywall, However, rest assured that access to all Covid related news will still remain free.

To access all other news will require a subscription, as it did pre-pandemic. The good news is that for the whole of December we will be running a special discounted offer to get 3 months access for the price of one month. Thank you for supporting us during this incredibly challenging time.

We value our content and access to our full site is only available with a  subscription. Your subscription entitles you to 7-day-a-week access to our website, plus a full digital copy of that week’s paper to read on your pc/mac or mobile device.  In addition, your subscription includes access to digital archive copies from 2006 onwards.

Just want to read one issue? No problem you can subscribe for just one week (or longer if you wish).

Drochaid dòchais gus barrachd eòlais!

‘Mòd mas fhìor! Am fac’ thu an robh mi ann?’. Sin mar a bhios mòran againn a’ faireachadh mu Mhòd Nàiseanta Rìoghail 2020 Air-Loidhne, chan ann idir air sgàth cus dibhe ach ri linn ’s gur ann mas fhìor a bha e a’ tachairt. Chaidh a dhealbh ’s a chur ri chèile mar dhrochaid gus luchd-frithealaidh, agus luchd-pàirt, nam Mòdan a ghiùlan thar ùine bacaidh a’ choròna-bhìorais chun an Dàmhair 2021 nuair a bhios dòchas ri saoghal mar a b’ àbhaist. Bidh fiughair oirnn uile ri leithid sin!

Ach ged is e “Mòd Nàiseanta Rìoghail mas fhìor” a bh’ ann cha robh dad mas fhìor air an tàlant a chualas agus a chunnacas, agus an ùidh a bh’ aig sean is òg a’ foillseachadh na Gàidhlig. Bha e follaiseach bho na beachdan a nochd feadhainn den luchd-amhairc air an làrach-lìn gun robh cùisean a’ còrdadh fìor mhath riutha, agus tha mi ’n dòchas gun d’ fhuair sibhse cothrom tlachd a ghabhail à pàirt air choreigin de na chaidh a chraoladh. Aon rud inntinneach mun Mhòd seo ’s e gum bi na chaidh a chraoladh air Facebook agus YouTube, ga ghleidheadh gu buan an tasglann YouTube a’ Chomuinn Ghàidhealaich. Clach mhìle shònraichte agus eachdraidheil dhan a’ Mhòd Nàiseanta.

Tha An Comunn Gàidhealach ag amas gum bi a h-uile Mòd Nàiseanta Rìoghail soirbheachail, agus a bharrachd air sin bidh luchd-eagrachaidh ionadail an dòchas gum fàg an tachartas dìleab mhaireannach dhan Ghàidhlig anns an sgìre. Leis nach b’ e tachartas àbhaisteach a bh’ againn am- bliadhna cha robh buannachd eaconamach ann, ach theagamh gum bheil cothrom air ceanglaichean cànain is dualchais a neartachadh ri linn na thachair le Mòd mas fhìor 2020. Fad ùine mhòr tha craoladh bhon Mhòd, rud a th’ air a bhith a’ dol am meud thar na deichead mu dheireadh, air cothrom a thoirt dhan Chomunn ruigheachd a-mach gu Gàidheil agus luchd-taice na Gàidhlig feadh an t-saoghail. Tha sinn moiteil às a’ cheangal sin, ach nas moiteile buileach a bhith faicinn, le tachartas na bliadhna seo, an ìre gum faod Am Mòd cothrom a thoirt dha na daoine sin feadh an t-saoghail ruigheachd air ais thugainn le bhith a’ cur chlàraidhean dhen cuid seinn, aithris, is ealantais ciùil thugainn. Thàinig còrr air còig ceud gu leth clàradh am-bliadhna, is mòran dhiubh sin bho thaobh a-mach Alba, agus bidh an Comunn a-nise a’ beachdachadh gu dlùth air dè ghabhas dèanamh gus an t-slighe ùr taice is coluadair seo eadar luchd-cleachdaidh na Gàidhlig a ghleidheadh, agus fhàs. Drochaid dòchais gus barrachd eòlais oirbh uile!

Virtual technology delivered the 2020 Royal National Mòd online but it was enthusiastic and talented people, of all ages, who made this unique event such a success.

For many years broadcasting and online output from the National Mòd has attracted Gaelic users and supporters worldwide, and the 2020 virtual event created a new route back to us. A bridge of pride and hope which An Comunn will wish to strengthen.
