Fort William-based crime author, JD Kirk, will officially launch his latest DCI Logan crime novel, ‘A Death Most Monumental’ in a special Facebook live event this week.

The eighth book in the Amazon number-one bestselling series follows a murder investigation after the discovery of a body at Glenfinnan Monument, and once again sees the series’ regular characters frequent well-known locations around Lochaber.

Due to coronavirus restrictions, JD – in reality, local author, Barry Hutchison – was unable to host an in-person event, so settled on a virtual launch as the next best thing.

‘I’m lucky enough to have fans of the series in countries all over the world,’ said Barry. ‘So hosting the virtual event on Facebook is a great way of letting them all get involved.’

As well as talking about the series so far, Barry will be reading from the new book, taking questions from those in attendance, and dropping some hints as to what to expect from DCI Logan and his team in the future.

The live launch event kicks off at 7pm today (Thursday). Anyone looking to attend can do so at

A Death Most Monumental is published in ebook format tomorrow (Friday). Signed copies of the previous books in the series are available from the Highland Bookshop in Fort William.
