BIRTH

PATERSON – Euan and Lorna, Port Appin, are delighted to announce the arrival of their son, Callan Innes Michael, on July 10, 2020 at Forth Valley Royal Hospital. A brother for Emma and Isla and grandson for David and Audrey Paterson, Taynuilt, and Ian and Lorna Wallace, Appin.

DEATHS

CORSAR – Mary Drummond Corsar (née Buchanan-Smith) DBE, FRSE, MA. Beloved wife of the late Chay, of South Oswald Road, Edinburgh. Dearly loved mother, sister and grandmother. Family only service, memorial to be held at a later date.

FALCONER – Winifred Margaret. Peacefully, at home in Oban, beloved mother of Lake and Keith, sister to Harry and Sheila, and adored granny to Lake, Glen, Cameron and Lorne, Winifred Margaret Falconer (née Payne) known to everyone as Margaret. Deeply devoted wife of the late Lake Falconer. A service will take place at Pennyfuir Cemetery, Oban at 1p.m. on Friday, August 14, 2020. Due to Covid 19 restrictions on numbers attending burials, only those invited are able to attend. Family flowers only, please. Donations, if desired, to Mary’s Meals.

GAULD – Peacefully at Ardfenaig Residential Home, Ardrishaig, on July 22, 2020, John Peter Gordon Gauld, in his 92nd year, of 10 Rowan Park, Lochgilphead and formerly of 12A Dalavich. Dearly beloved husband of Margaretta Stewart, and much loved father of Peter, Gordon, Caroline and Marina. Adored father-in-law, grandfather and proud great-grandfather. A much respected brother-in-law, uncle and cousin to all the extended family. A good neighbour and dear friend to many. A private funeral service took place at Dalavich Cemetery on Tuesday, July 28, 2020.

JACK – Michael Alan (formerly of Kinlochleven) passed away on July 24, 2020 in West Sussex, surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother and friend. Mike will be lovingly remembered and sorely missed, always.

LITSTER – Peacefully with his family by his side at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Glasgow, on August 5, 2020, Danny Litster of Springhill, Kilmichael Glassary, by Lochgilphead. Former Proprietor of Danny’s Ironmongers, Lochgilphead. Beloved husband of Moira Barclay, dear loved and adored Dad of Yvonne and Vivienne. Proud Grandad of Jamie. Much respected father-in-law of Adrian and George. A dear brother, brother-in-law, uncle and cousin to all the extended family. A good neighbour, respected work associate and a very dear friend to many. A private family funeral service was held at Achnabreac Cemetery, on Wednesday, August 12, 2020. Will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

MACDOUGALL – Hamish Douglas, died peacefully in his favourite place, Appin, on Sunday, August 2, 2020. He was with his family and died at home in the place he loved. He was a loving husband to June, father and grandfather, and will be greatly missed. Private cremation.

MACKINNON – Donald (Donnie), passed away peacefully at Belford Hospital on Wednesday, August 5, 2020, aged 85 years. Beloved husband of Margaret, dearly loved Dad of John, Rosie and Tricia, father-in-law of Christine, John and Peter, grandfather of Nicola, Craig, Matthew and Melissa and great-grandfather of Bertie and Duffy. Sadly missed.

McNEILL – Peacefully at home, Craigmount, Tarbert, on August 5, 2020, after a long illness bravely borne, John, dearly beloved husband of Fay and dear father of Douglas and the late Karen, much loved father-in-law of Bunty. Retired 2nd engineer MV Claymore CalMac. In accordance with present restrictions funeral private.

MORRISON – Morag, aged 91 years, died peacefully at home 30 McKelvie Road, Oban on August 7, 2020 with family by her side. Formerly of North Connel. Dearly loved wife to the late Murdo Morrison, mother to Freddy, Callum, Murdo and the late John Alexander Morrison.

CHISHOLM – Rab and Agnes Chisholm would like to thank everybody who sent cards and flowers from Oban, Edinburgh and Glasgow on the passing of their son Duncan after a long illness. A special thanks to Vivienne, Rosie and Sheila for all their support.

GAULD – Margaret and family would like to thank all relatives, friends and neighbours for the many kind expressions of sympathy, flowers, cards and phone calls received following the recent sad loss of John. Special thanks to Nan and her staff at Ardfenaig Residential Home, Ardrishaig for the care and support given to John and the family at such a difficult time. Also to the carers from Carr Gomm who looked after John at home. Grateful thanks to the Rev Margaret Millar for a personal and comforting service, to Donald MacDonald Funeral Directors for caring and efficient arrangements and to Richard at Kilmartin Hotel for catering. Thanks also to those who paid their respects, lining the route through Lochgilphead and Dalavich village and at the cemetery as John made his final journey home. The amount of £575 was raised for Ardfenaig Comfort Fund.

GIBB – The family of the late Harry Gibb wish to thank all family, friends and neighbours for the support and kindness shown to them following their recent sad loss – cards, telephone calls, flowers and Facebook messages – and also to everyone who paid their respects en-route to Pennyfuir. Special thanks to all those who cared for Harry over the years. Carers Direct, Outreach Team, Ward B Lorn and Islands Hospital, ambulance teams, North Argyll Carers, Crossroads, all at Lorn Medical Centre, Dr McElroy and nurses at Connel Surgery, and latterly all the wonderful staff at Etive House Care Home. Thanks to Catriona at Hamish Hoey & Sons for her guidance and compassion, Petals for the beautiful wreath, and a very special thank you to Donald MacKinnon for the lovely service at Pennyfuir, and his support to the family.

MACDONALD – Brian’s family would like to thank all family, friends and colleagues who turned out in the pouring rain to say goodbye to our Brian. Thanks for all cards, letters, phone calls, flowers and visits. Special thanks to doctors and nurses at Ward I and A & E at Lorn and Islands Hospital and Kitty Millar MND Nurse. His carers Jessie, Janis, Marie and Mark for all their excellent, loving care towards Brian. To Dougie and Maria who were always there for Brian on his return to Oban, his dear friend Murdo and Jackie who visited Brian every day. Special thanks to Mgs James MacNeil, Fr David Connor and Fr Thompson for so much comfort given to the family and conducting such a lovely service for Brian. Thanks to Catriona and James Hoey for their support and professional service, Petals of Oban for the beautiful flowers and to Angus MacColl for piping. Special thanks to Scottish Fire & Rescue for the great send-off they gave to our Brian also to Police Scotland for their assistance on the day of his funeral. Shine bright Brian, you will never leave our hearts.
