Over the last three months Oban Music Society (OMS) has been busy cancelling, rescheduling and planning concerts as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The group was particularly disappointed to have had to cancel two piano recitals back in the spring but is hoping to rearrange visits by Clare Hammond and Anna Fedorova next year.

With the uncertainty of when restrictions will be lifted, OMS has taken the decision to cancel all performances until the end of this year. Members have also offered to pay half the fees of the young musicians due to visit as they struggle financially in the current situation.

The scholarship offered to young Oban musicians to attend the Cheethams Summer School has also been cancelled.

On a more positive note, the group has been working on next year’s programme which is tuning up to be a busy and varied season starting in January 2021.

OMS will hold a virtual Annual General Meeting on Monday July 6 at 5pm. Anyone wishing to attend should email Seymore at and he will send out the papers and an elecronic invite.
