Fire and rescue services are currently tackling a blaze at the Oban Livestock Centre, Upper Soroba.

Plumes of black smoke belched over the town this afternoon as the fire took hold at the United Auctions site.

The mart building itself appears  to be undamaged by the flames but the Oban Times believes that other units on the site have been badly affected.

Seven appliances and fire fighters from Oban Fire and Rescue are  in attendance along with loccal police officers. The alarm was raised at around 3.50pm this afternoon.
