Leisure facilities may be closed in Argyll and Bute – but the charity behind them is keen to keep people active during isolation from coronavirus.

Live Argyll is publishing daily online workouts, as sought out by their fitness staff, to help residents to stay fit during self-isolation.

Libraries and public hire halls have also had to be temporarily shut by the charity as the UK goes into lockdown in its bid to beat the Covid-19 outbreak.

A statement from Live Argyll said: ‘Just because you are staying at home doesn’t mean you can’t exercise!

‘The advice is to keep as healthy as you can, which means taking any form of exercise from the comfort of your own home.

‘As part of our commitment to contribute to the health and wellbeing of our communities our fitness professionals will be recommending specific online video links that you can take part in.

‘The recommended fitness videos will be based on three levels – beginner, intermediate and advanced.’

Videos will be posted on Live Argyll’s social media channels at 9am every day, and they are expected to last between 30 and 45 minutes.

Anybody participating is advised not to work out if they feel unwell. They must also ensure they keep well hydrated, and wear loose clothing and flat shoes.

The statement added: ‘Remember to get the maximum benefit from your workout you should exercise at least three times per week.

‘Following guidelines, as issued from the Government, where appropriate please encourage all members of your household who are able to, to join in.

‘We would love to hear of how you are getting on! Please use the hashtag #liveargyll and mention us @liveargyll and share photos of your workouts.’
