Bought tickets for this year’s cancelled Tiree Music Festival will be transferred to 2021, organisers have pledged.

Refunds for those who can not make it will be given but a plea for patience has been made.

‘Our commitment to those that purchased tickets is that their ticket automatically transfers to TMF2021, which will be held on July 9-11. By committing to the 2021 festival you are ensuring TMF survives and can continue the legacy of the first 10 years – our heartfelt thanks to all that are able and willing to do so,’ said the announcement.

Confirmation that the popular festival was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic was made with a ‘very heavy heart’.

The announcement read: ‘Up until the past few days we were still in strong hope that we would progress with TMF2020 as planned, however with the impact of the pandemic on the travel operators to the island and the uncertainty around restrictions on gatherings and events, this sadly means it will be impossible to plan and manage the audience numbers that attend the event.

‘As always, our priority is ensuring TMF is a safe, family-friendly event and sadly this can’t be guaranteed under the current restrictions.

‘After an incredible 10th anniversary event we didn’t think your support could be any stronger but to see a record sellout of the 2020 festival by November 2019 once again highlighted why our small Scottish festival has the best audience in the world.’

The dates for TMF2021 are July 9-11.

‘By committing to the 2021 festival you are ensuring TMF survives and can continue the legacy of the first 10 years – our heartfelt thanks to all that are able and willing to do so,’ added the announcement.

Anyone not able to make the 2021 event should contact office@tireemusicfestival.co.uk with their name and ticket order ID so it can get this processed by Eventbrite.

Organisers asked people to be patient as the festival has no full-time employees. All refund requests must be received by 5pm on Friday April 24, 2020.

‘The local community is at the heart of our festival so, from our community to yours, we are wishing you all good health. Thank you for continuing to support our wee island festival. Stay safe and we can’t wait to welcome you back to Tiree in 2021,’ signed off the announcement.
