DEATHS
AHMAD – Joyce. Suddenly at home on Monday, January 20, 2020, Joyce, aged 76 years. Much loved wife of the late Agha Ahmad and beloved mother of Sameena. Funeral service will be held on Monday, February 3, 2020 at Masonhill Crematorium, by Ayr at 2.00pm, to which all are welcome. Donations in lieu of flowers if desired to Alzheimer Society.
BINNIE – Peacefully on January 23, 2020 at Oban Hospital aged 79, Isobel Agnes, beloved wife of the late Alastair, devoted mother to Gordon and Lorne, mother-in-law to Kirsteen and Deborah and much loved Granny of Matthew, Lewis, Jensen, Brodie and Arden. Funeral service to be held at Oban Parish Church on Friday, January 31 at 1pm. Family flowers only.
FERGUSON – Peacefully, on January 25, 2020, at Etive House Care Home, Benderloch, Mary Ann, (née MacDonald), formerly of Lynn Court, Oban, sadly missed by Tina, Duncan, Carrie, Jamie, Rebecca and William, much loved mother, granny, sister and aunt and a dear friend to many.
MACDOUGALL – Donnie, Dalmally. Suddenly but peacefully, at Lorn and Islands Hospital Oban on January 24, 2020, Donnie, beloved husband to Morag, devoted father to Kenneth, Duncan and Sheena, grandad to Alasdair, Heather, Grace, Flora and Kirsty and father-in-law to Fiona and Louisa. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at 1.00pm at Glenorchy Parish Church, Dalmally.
MACFARLANE – Mairi (née MacKechnie).  Suddenly but peacefully, on Saturday, January 25, 2020, at the Lorn and Islands Hospital, Oban, with her family by her side, in her 84th year, Mairi, of 30 Morvern Hill, Oban, formerly of Easdale/Kilchoan, wife of the late Iain MacFarlane (Ting), much loved mother of John, Hugh, Ishbel and Helen, devoted grandmother of Mairi, Iain and Craig, dear sister, auntie, mother-in-law and a friend to many. Funeral service will be held at Kibrandon Church on Friday, February 7 at 1.00pm.

CLARK – Tosh, Tracy, Ian and their families would like to thank all relatives, friends, neighbours and work colleagues for the many kind expressions of sympathy, flowers, phone calls, cards and visits received following the recent sad loss of Margaret. Our thanks are extended to the staff of Glenaray Ward for their care and attention. Thanks also to Father Ronald Campbell for a comforting and uplifting service; to Donald MacDonald for caring and compassionate arrangements, to Morna for beautiful floral tributes and to the Stag Hotel for lunch and refreshments. Finally, our thanks to all who attended at church and graveside to pay their respects. The retiral collection raised £450 for Glenaray Ward.
DUNCAN – Billy and all the family would like to thank relatives, friends, neighbours and colleagues for their overwhelming support, for the many cards, messages, flowers and kind expressions of sympathy following the sad loss of Isabel (Bibby). A special thank you to Ian MacInnes of D&A Munn for his care, professionalism and compassion and to Belinda Braithwaite (Humanist Celebrant) for the uplifting service. We would also like to extend our thanks and gratitude to Dr Erik Jespersen, the Scottish Air Ambulance Service, the Neurosurgeons and dedicated nursing staff (Ward 61) at the QEUH, Glasgow, the Scottish Ambulance Service, and all staff Ward I at Lorn and Islands Hospital for their professionalism while caring for Bibby; to Barbara Milne and all at North Argyll Carers Centre for their wonderful support; to Amanda MacPhail and staff at the Argyllshire Gathering Halls for the lovely buffet and to A J MacColl for the beautiful piping at Pennyfuir. Finally, a huge thank you to all who attended Bibby’s service and so generously donated £542 to the Scottish Air Ambulance Service.
MACDONALD – The family of the late Ewen MacDonald wish to thank most sincerely all relatives, friends and neighbours, who called, sent letters, cards and messages of condolence following the death of Ewen. Grateful thanks to the Nursing Staff of Ward 1, Belford Hospital, Fort William, and latterly the loving care and attention of the staff of Cradlehall Nursing Home, Inverness, during Ewen’s last weeks. Sincere thanks to the Rev. Dr. Malcolm Kinnear for his very comforting and thoughtful service in Kinlochleven Parish Church and at the graveside, which was so appreciated. To the many friends and acquaintances of Ewen who attended the church service and at Kinlochmore Cemetery we are humbled and grateful for your presence. We are indebted to William T. Fraser and Son, Funeral Directors, Inverness, for their kind, caring and very professional services throughout, thank you so much. Thanks are also due to Hugh and Kate of the Highland Getaway Inn, Kinlochleven for providing food and refreshments in a very pleasant environment. Finally our sincere thanks to John and Fiona for all that they have done during Ewen’s illness and beyond, we are forever grateful. Thank you.
MARTIN – The family of William Martin (Billy) sincerely thank family, friends and neighbours for their kind expressions of sympathy. Special thanks to Dr. Caldwell and the staff of Ward I (Lorn and Islands Hospital) for their love and generous care of us all. To Rev. Dugald Cameron for spiritual comfort and Hamish Hoey and Sons for efficient funeral arrangements.
TIERNEY (SMITH) – Kerry, Tricia, Lindsay and family would like to thank everyone for their kindness and support on the sad loss of their mother Frances. Many thanks to all who attended the funeral. A special thanks to Father James MacNeil, for his support and Catriona from Hamish Hoey’s for helping with the funeral arrangements. Thank you to Amanda at the Argyllshire for the wake. And lastly a huge thank you to Claire MacQueen Macmillan nurse, Keira and Helen Carers Direct and Lucy from the Dove Centre for their continuous support. Collection amount raised £601 to be divided by The Dove Centre and Macmillan day bed unit.
