O’DONNELL – MACCOLL – Both families are delighted to announce the engagement of Craig, younger son of Eddie and Sheena, Glenessca, Salen, Mull, to Julie, eldest daughter of Alastair and Janet, Eilean Fraoich, Portuairk, Kilchoan.
BONNE – Peacefully at Lorn and Islands Hospital, Oban on January 14, 2020, aged 85, Dr Weibe Rob Bonne (Tobermory), beloved husband to Mary, much loved father to Willem, Hank, Lucielle and the late Jimi, loving Paps to Katharina, Seumas, Louis, Roddy, Siofra and Oisin. Gratitude extended to all staff at Lorn and Islands Hospital.
CLARK – Donald Clark, George Hotel, Inveraray, peacefully at Oban Hospital on January 19, 2020, devoted father to Donald John and Kris and grandfather to Anouk, Manon and Lola and very much loved partner of Jane Somerville. Funeral service to be held at Inveraray Parish Church on Thursday, January 30, 2020 at 12.30pm interment thereafter at Glen Shira Cemetery, to which all friends are respectfully invited. Family flowers only please, donations if desired to Cancer Research UK. Colourful attire requested to celebrate the Great Man’s life.
CLARK – Suddenly but peacefully at the Mid-Argyll Hospital on Sunday, January 19, 2020, Margaret Clark in her 74th year of 3 Balure, Ford. Loving partner of Tosh Beaton, dearly loved mum of Tracy and Ian, adored Nana of Ben, Connor, Skye, John and the late Tasha. Much respected mother-in-law of Gordon and Brenda, dear sister, aunt and cousin to all the family and a good neighbour and dear friend to many. Funeral service will be held Friday, January 24, 2020 at 12:30pm at St Margaret’s Church, Lochgilphead thereafter to Achnabreac Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations to Glenaray Ward, Mid-Argyll Hospital.
COOPE – Derek, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at Lorn and Islands Hospital, Oban. Much loved and cherished husband of Joyce, beloved Dad of Mandy, Debbie, Jason and Dan and dearly loved Grandpa/Grandpops of Alex, Nico, Ross and Hugh. A Celebration of Derek’s Life will be held in Oban in the near future and details will be announced later.
GIBSON – Peacefully after an illness bravely borne, Kenneth Gibson, Lochbuie, Isle of Mull, aged 77 years. Loving husband of Anne, much loved father and grandfather, sadly missed by all the family. Funeral service to be held at Torosay Parish Church on Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at 11.00am thereafter to Balure Cemetery.
HILL – Mary Therese. It is with great sadness that the family announce the death of Mary Therese, retired teacher of Glasgow and Inverie, at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital on January 17, 2020. Fortified by the rites of the Holy Mother Church R.I.P. Reception followed by Funeral Mass on Monday, January 27 at 10.00 a.m. at St. Andrews R.C. Cathedral, Clyde Street, Glasgow thereafter to the Linn Cemetery, Lainshaw Drive.
MACKINNON – Peacefully on January 17, 2020 at North Argyll House (formerly Burnside Cottage, Stronmilchan, Dalmally) Ann Elizabeth, beloved wife of the late Neil, dearly loved mother of Stewart and Neil and much loved mother-in-law, grandmother and great grandmother. Funeral at Glenorchy Parish Church, Dalmally on Friday, January 31, 2020 at 1pm.
MARTIN – At Lorn and Islands Hospital, Oban on January 17, 2020, William James Martin (Billy), in his 77th year, loving and much loved husband of Margaret, dad of Robert and Janet, dad-in-law of Lorna and Colin and grandad of Torquil, Harvey, Olivia and Gabrielle. A private funeral has taken place.
BEATON – Colin, Joseph and family would like to thank everyone for their kindness, cards and sympathy on the sad loss of their father Joe. Many thanks to those who attended the funeral Mass and graveside. Special thanks to Rev Mgr James MacNeil for his spiritual support and to Catriona at Hamish Hoey and son for their professional funeral arrangements. Grateful thanks to the Manager and staff at the Royal Hotel for the lovely catering provided. £627 Raised for Mary’s Meals.
CAMERON – 1931-2020. Ann Marie, Catriona, Angus, Elaine and the grandchildren would like to thank friends, neighbours and family for their kindness following the sudden death of Rosemary, through phone calls, cards, condolences, baking and flowers.  Thanks to everyone for attending the funeral and interment.  Our thanks go to the staff of CAU Belford Hospital, in particular Nicky for her kindness, to Frs David Connor, Roddy MacAulay, Roddy Johnston and her cousin Fr Sandy Culley for mass and prayers. Thanks also to Aonghas Grant, Jimmy Forsyth and Mr MacBeath (Piper) for music accompaniment during the mass and at the grave side with special thanks to the Holly Tree Hotel for refreshments following the interment.
Finally a sincere thank you to Jamie and Beth and their staff, for their care and professionalism in caring for Rosemary’s final journey and assisting us with arrangements.  The collection taken raised the amazing sum of £929, which will be shared between Rosemary’s Parish Church and Mary’s Meals.
CARTER – Audrey, Graeme, Simone and Chrissie would like to thank everyone, family, friends, neighbours and work colleagues (ours and Alec’s) for all the kind messages, cards, flowers, phone calls and visits on our sad loss of Alec. Special thanks to Father James for his kindness, support and lovely service. Catriona from Hamish Hoey’s for all her help and professional service with all the arrangements. Kieron and all the staff at The Royal Hotel. Mark Gowdie from Digital Kangaroo for the order of service and all the boys who carried Alec from Church to graveside. We can’t thank everyone enough who came to pay their respects at the church and graveside. We are overwhelmed by the kind donations from you all. GIBB – The Gibb family would like to thank relatives, friends and neighbours for their overwhelming support and kind expressions of sympathy following the sad loss of John. Special thanks to Dr Waddington and all staff at Lorn Medical Centre, ECCT Team, Gaynor Wotherspoon and Macmillan Day Bed Unit; Dr Catherine Ogilvy and staff in Ward B7 in the Beatson for their part in John’s care and his fight to beat cancer; also to Catriona of Hamish Hoey & Son for her caring and efficient funeral arrangements; to Amanda at the Argyllshire Gathering Halls for arranging service layout and lovely buffet on return from Pennyfuir; to piper Andy Matthews at Halls and graveside. We were so lucky to have the wonderful celebrant Alyson Stewart guide us through every stage of the service prior to the funeral and give so much support on the day – a huge thank you. Finally thank you to all who attended the service and so generously donated £1,600 to Lymphoma Action.
HAVLIN – Moira Havlin and family would like to thank all who attended her husband John Havlin’s funeral on January 9, 2020 at the Church of the Good Shepherd, Kinlochleven. Also thank you to all who sent cards and flowers, to Fr. Roddy for a comforting service and to John MacLellan’s for professional funeral arrangements. I would also like to thank all the staff at Abbeyfield Care Home, Ballachulish for looking after John for the last few years and the doctors and nurses at the Belford Hospital, Fort William. The sum of £416.85 will be donated to the Abbeyfield Residents Fund. Thank you all so much. Moira Havlin and family.
MACLELLAN – Fiona and John would like to thank all relatives, friends, and neighbours for all the sympathy, kindness, cards and flowers following the sad loss of their mum Morag Ann Maclellan (MoMo). Thanks also goes to Alan Smurthwaite for a beautiful heartfelt service, to Jimmy Milne at Kilmallie Community Centre for all the help and with the set-up of the Hall. To John and Linnie and the team at John McLellan Funeral Directors for all your help in making the day so personal. Finally, Wet Wet Wet (one of Morag’s favourite bands) didn’t get a look in with all the rain that fell but that did not stop all the brave people from attending the service so for that thank you all from us both.
MACLEOD – The family of Calum would like to express their heartfelt thanks to everyone for the sympathy cards, flowers, messages and stories of our late Calum following his sad passing. Grateful thanks to John and Stuart at John McLellan Funeral Directors for the professional and faultless service on the day, you made it all so much more bearable. To Fr Connor, Deacon Tom and all former Clergy for the help and support to Calum over the years. To Charlie Toal for his hard work at Cille Choirill, The Alexandra Hotel for the catering and to all who came to the service, £556.76 was collected for Lochaber Macmillan Nurses. Finally but in no means least we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Key Housing and all the carers who went above and beyond their duties to give Calum the best. 
McDONALD – Sheila, Cameron and family, would like to thank family, friends and neighbours, for their support, sympathy and comfort received on the sudden loss of Lovat.  Ian of D & A Munn’s who was always there for us.  Special thanks to John Horne and staff for allowing us to make the Royal Hotel perfect for Lovat’s Celebration of Life, to Alyson Stewart (Humanist Celebrant), for her lovely words both in Oban and Perth Crematorium, Justine of Thistle and the Rose and indebted to Ballochmyle for their touching music. Finally, to all who attended and for your generous donations, a sum of £1107.60 was collected for Argyll Beats Cardiovascular Disease (known as ABCD). – Airdeny House, Taynuilt.
McDOUGALL – Elizabeth and the family would like to thank everyone who have supported them in any way during the sad loss of Donnie. A special thanks to the doctors and nurse in A&E who looked after Donnie and were so good to the family on the day of Donnie’s passing. Thank you to the Rev. Dugald Cameron for guiding us through an uplifting service and to Ann Barlow for playing her violin. A big thanks to Ian MacInnes and his team and to the Royal Hotel for a beautiful buffet. The figure of £230.96 from the retiring collection has been donated to the British Heart Foundation.
RICHMOND – The family of the late Johan Richmond would like to thank all relatives, friends and neighbours for the many kind and thoughtful expressions of sympathy extended to them following their sad loss. Special thanks is due to the Oban paramedics team, Tarbert Medical Centre and The Beatson Centre for their care of Johan; to Rev Robert Macleod for his uplifting service; to Marjorie Kelly for her lovely accompaniment; to Donald MacDonald undertakers for their professional and compassionate service, and to Tarbert Hotel for refreshments.
