What a long month January is. It’s very strange as, on the one hand, it’s flying by but, on the other, it seems to have been January forever.

I’ve been compiling an events list for the year and I’m not sure if that’s helped or not as it all seems so far away but that could just be because of the dark days and night just now.

It’s encouraging that there is so much coming up during 2020 and, with this being the Year of Coasts and Waters, there are some different and exciting things coming up but I’m going to keep you in suspense for the moment until it’s all confirmed. All I’ll say is: get your singing voices tuned up.

Oban Town Diary will have everything on it as details become available. It is a really useful tool if you’re planning events in the town but it’s not being used to its full potential at the moment.

It can be used to check if a date is free for an event you’re planning as well as advertising that event but do try to get your information in as quickly as possible and, remember, help is here if you struggle with computers. Just hand a poster into the BID4Oban office on Stevenson Street and I’ll happily add it to the town diary.

This weekend has quite a lot on.

Swan Lake is at the Corran Halls performed by Ballet West; Dunollie Museum, Castle and Grounds is having a lunchtime Burns Supper; and the Dove Centre has bingo in Argyllshire Gathering Halls. There are also all the local music venues and Oban Phoenix Cinema has some great films at the moment, the choice is yours.

The photo last week is an old one of the Regent Hotel and this week is a very new photo, only taken on Tuesday.
