Steelwork for new stairs and lift access at Oban’s Rockfield Centre has arrived on site, notching up another major milestone for the project.

The old blue staircase, also know to many as the 59 block stairs, has been removed to make way for a new staircase and a lift will mean all floors are fully accessible.

‘The build is moving forward at a good pace. All the demolition work is done and dusted, the windows are finished, it’s a case of plastering walls, cornicing has been replaced, toilets are going in and more scaffolding is coming down.

‘Once all that’s done then there will be a period of kitting the building out and hopefully, if all keeps going to plan, gradually start moving from the huts to the main building by the end of this year with a razzmatazz launch in 2021,’ said Eleanor MacKinnon, project facilitator.
