Lochaber Showstoppers held its first meeting of 2020 on Thursday, with the evening proving to be a great success in bringing in new members.
Prior to the pre-audition information night, the committee had put out a call for young people in the area to join the group, as they begin preparations for its next production – The Sound of Music.
More than 30 people attended the meeting at the Nevis Centre, with ages from seven to 70, of which 10 of were children who were joining the group for the first time.
The meeting gave members new and old a chance to get to know each other as they looked over the different roles available and took part in singing training.
The group also gave thanks to chairwoman Aileen Hornby, who has stepped down from her five-year tenure at the head of the committee to focus on her young family. Sheena Coull has stepped in as interim chairwoman.
Singing practice for The Sound of Music will take place today, Thursday January 16, and next week, Thursday January 23, at the Nevis Centre from 7.30pm to 9.30pm.
The final auditions will held on Thursday January 30, so there is still time to take part. The Showstoppers would also welcome anyone willing to support backstage.
