Happy New Year from everyone at Lochaber Chamber!

Do you remember when the date 2020 sounded like something out of science fiction? When we’d all be driving in hover-cars and have robot butlers?

Well, here we are, and in some ways, it looks nothing like our collective imagining but in other less showy ways, our world has been transformed through technology.

2020 is off to a flying start at the Chamber with our digital tourism roadshow taking key players from the tourism industry around the area to meet with tourism businesses at venues in Glencoe, Strontian, Fort William and Mallaig in early February.

This is a great chance for local businesses to ask questions that they want answered and add to hear directly from the big players in the online travel industry.

This year we’re also delighted to be leading an international trade mission to Nova Scotia, Canada, as part of the international trade programme delivered by Scottish Chambers of Commerce.

In March, we’ll be taking a small group of businesses from across Scotland to meet with prospective trade contacts in Halifax, the bustling capital of Nova Scotia, a province with strong cultural links to Scotland.

This opportunity is open to all businesses, so if you’d like to find out more please give us a call.

2020 is also the first year of the One Lochaber Leadership Programme, a specially tailored leadership training programme developed for local business needs and delivered right here in Lochaber.

There is still time to sign up for this professional development course accredited by the Chartered Institute of Management. It’s a great way to invest in your own or to help a valued employee to build their skills.

With regular networking lunches, training events, business site visits and access to loads of business advice and support, make 2020 the year you get ready for the future of business by joining the hub of
the Lochaber business community!
