Stirling – Caledonian Marts Ltd on January 3 sold 54 bulls and OTM cattle, 1461 prime hoggets, ewes and tups.
All bulls were over 16 months selling to 202ppkg for a Limousin from A Orr, Lomond Muir, Wester Balgeddie, Kinross and to £1353 for the same beast.
Beef OTM cattle averaged 131ppkg selling to 166ppkg for a Hereford from Goldenlea Farmers, Gryffewraes and to £1240 for a Charolais from McMurrich Partnership, Ballater Drive.
Dairy cattle averaged 111ppkg selling to 167ppkg for a Friesian from R and W Waugh, Summerhouse and to £950 from the same home.

All classes of hoggets a good steady trade throughout with 1319 levelling out at 201.5ppkg (-3.2p on the week or +11p on the year).
Top price of the day went to Doune Farms, West Lundie for a 53kg ¾ Beltex at £110.
Top price per kg went to R A Campbell and Son, Meikle Seggie for a pen of Beltex X at 42.6kg at 230ppkg.

Heavy ewes averaged £102.92 selling to £136 for a tremendous Texel Ewe from C Smith, South Flanders, Kippen.
Light ewes averaged £70.10 selling to £71 for Cheviots from D D McEwan, Arnprior, Stirling.
Cast rams sold to £105 for a Texel from W and R S Adam, Harelaw, Barrhead.
