On Monday we were delighted to welcome an expert trainer from Healthy Working Lives Scotland to run a special event for Lochaber Chamber  businesses.

After members’ requests for guidance on how to deal with alcohol and drugs issues at work, this was the second in a series of events to help raise awareness about the issues. Earlier in the year we ran a very informative workshop that focused on raising awareness, and Monday’s training workshop focused more closely on training for managers.

Following a short online element, the informal, friendly workshop offered interactive learning and skills training in small groups. The 15 business managers who attended learned the best way to broach the subject when worried about a colleague’s suspected substance issues and the importance of being clear and upfront about employers’ expectations.

Does your workplace have a drugs and alcohol policy? Have you run a workplace alcohol awareness event? These are simple, practical steps recommended for all workplaces. And did you know that as a member of Lochaber Chamber, you have access to unlimited HR advice and document templates through our fantastic Quest Member services as part of your membership?
