Oban Bowling Club president Iain Boyd urged members to encourage others to try the sport at last week’s AGM.

Addressing a packed Dalriach Road venue Mr Boyd, who was voted in again as president for season 2020, said: ‘What an honour it has been to be president for this important (150th) year.

‘This club is important to me as family ties go away back. I am old Oban through and through and I ask that we all encourage friends and neighbours to try this sport we all love so much and ensure that this club is here for Obanites in another 150 years.’

Mr Boyd praised all members who had helped out with the various social events throughout the season as well as those who help keep the grounds looking in pristine condition and of course everyone who took part, and helped to run the many competitions that took place.

‘It is the members that make this club and we hope that the work done this year has helped put the club on a sure footing going forward.

Mr Boyd also thanked the many sponsors who provided their financial backing.

Office bearers for season 2020 are as follows: President – Iain Boyd; immediate past president/match secretary/child protection officer – Helen MacLean; vice-president – Semple Barrie; Secretary – Anne Stewart; Treasurer – Janice Fraser.
