A total of 88 per cent of all care home support in Scotland is delivered by the independent sector, with these services caring for more than 33,000 older individuals and employing nearly 46,000 people.

Abbeyfield Ballachulish has been nominated in the Care Home of the Year category at the Scottish Care Awards 2019. This award celebrates an individual service at the forefront of excellent care home provision.

The winner will be announced at a ceremony tomorrow night (Friday) at the Hilton Hotel in Glasgow. The ceremony will be hosted by Michelle McManus, with nearly 700 people attending.

Louise Duffy, the registered manager of Abbeyfield Ballachulish, who put forward the nomination, said: ‘The team is a dedicated, hardworking group which truly goes above and beyond. They ensure every person who enters the building is welcomed and treated like one of the family, and every voice is heard. Their motto which underpins every day and shows through their work is: Our residents do not live in our workplace; we work in their home.’
