CRAIG – Peacefully at Eadar Glinn with her family by her side, on October 22, 2019, in her 89th year, Irene, beloved wife of the late John (Jack) Craig, loving mother of Carole and mother-in-law of Neil, dearly loved granny of Allan, Graham and Alison and great-granny of newly born Peter John. Funeral will take place from Oban Parish Church, Glencruitten Road, Oban on Monday, November 11 at 1.00 pm thereafter to Pennyfuir Cemetery. Family flowers only please. DAHL – Sadly, at New Craigs Hospital, Inverness on Tuesday, October 22, 2019, Peter Henry Dahl, loving husband of Dorothy Dahl, father of Moira, Fiona and Roy, and grandpa of Aimee, Ruairidh, Samantha, Joanna, Mailee, Reuben and Pippa. A Thanksgiving Service will be held on Thursday, November 7 at 1 p.m. at St. Modan’s Church, Benderloch to which all family and friends are respectfully invited. Family flowers only but donations, if desired, at the church door for the Oban and Lorn Dementia Support Group and The Cherish Fund (Oban).
DAVIDSON – William (Bill). Peacefully in Dail Mhor House, Strontian with his family around him on Monday, October 28, 2019. Bill is survived by his wife Marion and sons, Andy and Kenny. The funeral will be held in Duncansburgh MacIntosh Church on Wednesday, October 6 at 12 noon followed by interment in Glen Nevis Cemetery.
DAY – Suddenly at home on October 24, 2019, aged 74 years, Michael Stafford Day LLB, beloved husband of Judith, much loved dad of Guinevere and father-in-law of Jonathan, loving grandpa of Edward and Charlotte and dear brother of Priscilla. Funeral will take place at Muckairn Parish Church, Taynuilt on Thursday, November 7 at 1.00 p.m. A cremation will take place at Cardross Crematorium on Friday, November 8 at 12.15 p.m. Family flowers only please. DOYLE – Avril (née Power), much loved wife of Colin, mum to Gavin, daughter of Minnie and sister to Marian, Diane and Eileen, passed peacefully in hospital on Saturday, October 26, 2019, fondly remembered by all who knew her. All friends respectfully invited to her funeral service at Caol Church of Scotland at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, November 5. Family flowers only but donations if desired to various charities.
MACLEAN – Peacefully on October 28, 2019, aged 97 years, Archie MacLean, very dear husband of Chrissie, devoted Dad to Marion and Margo, much loved Grandpa of Graeme, Karen, Kirsty and Iona and adored Great-Grandpa of Robert, Ruairidh and Euan. Funeral will take place in Tiree on Saturday, November 9, 2019. Will be sadly missed.
MACPHAIL – Peacefully after an illness bravely borne on October 19, 2019, Christine MacPhail, Ensay Farm, Calgary, Isle of Mull, aged 63 years. Loving daughter of the late Colquhoun and Christina MacPhail, dear sister of William and sister-in-law of Anne. Sadly missed by all. Funeral service was held at Kilmore Parish Church, Dervaig on Tuesday, October 29, 2019, thereafter to Cardross Crematorium.
MACPHERSON – On Thursday, October 24, 2019, peacefully, at Lorn and Islands Hospital, Oban, John (Iain) MacPherson, formerly of Balliemeanoch Farm, Lochaweside, in his 87th year, beloved husband of Catherine Kilshaw (Rena) and much loved father of Fiona, Aileen, John, George and Susan and a dearly loved father-in-law and papa. Funeral service at Glenorchy Parish Church, on Monday, November 4, 2019 at 11.00am, thereafter to Cardross Crematorium at 3.15pm, to which all friends are respectfully invited. Family flowers only please, donations if desired to Macmillan Cancer Support and North Argyll Carers Trust.
PAXTON – Elizabeth Lang Paxton, (Betty), died peacefully on Sunday, October 27, 2019, at North Argyll House, Oban, aged 106 years, much loved mother of Doreen, Claire and James, grandmother and great-grandmother. Funeral service will take place at Oban Parish Church, Glencruitten Road, Oban, on Thursday, October 31, 2019 at 1.00 p.m. thereafter to Achnaba Cemetery. Family flowers only please. Donations if desired to North Argyll House Residents’ Fund.
WOMACK – Dorothy. Passed peacefully, at the Lorn and Islands Hospital, Oban, on October 15, 2019, after a long illness, Dorothy, aged 72 years, a loving wife and a much loved grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be sadly missed by her husband Adrian, sons Richard, Andrew and Martin, daughters Amanda and Helen and grandchildren Olivia, Lily, Emma, Daniel, Courtney, Jade, Skye, Paige, Josh, Alex and Jack and mother-in-law to Julie, Natalie and Joanne. Funeral service will take place at St. Modan’s Church, Benderloch, on Friday, November 8 at 1.00 p.m., followed by private family interment at Pennyfuir Cemetery. Thereafter, at the Falls of Lora Hotel. Family flowers only please donations in lieu to the British Lung Foundation.
COULDREY – Cathy, would like to thank family, friends and neighbours, for all their kind expressions of sympathy following the death of Wenda. Grateful thanks to Ian MacInnes and William Gemmell of D & A Munn, for their first rate support and attention to detail with the funeral arrangements. Thanks also, to the Rev. Ian Miller for his comforting service and to all who attended the service at Cardross Crematorium. Many thanks to Carr Gomm for their input from when Wenda first arrived in Dunmar Court, where she was very settled and comfortable, Lorn Medical Centre, the District Nursing team and Lois from Marie Curie Nurses. My particular thanks to Heather, Josie, Jaclyn, Caroline, Denise, Shirley and Marie, who have been wonderful carers, along with other dedicated staff of Oban Community Carers and who have been so attentive to Wenda’s needs in her last few years.
MACCALLUM – Daphne, Archie, Betty, Andrina and all the family would like to thank everyone most sincerely. To all who have helped us so much over the last few years with the care of our dear Jimmy. All the lovely messages, cards, letters and flowers which are an enormous help and we are so grateful, also everyone who came to the service, Callum MacPhail and Ross MacPherson who played a few of Jimmy’s favourite tunes. Brander Lodge who were magnificent, making Jimmy’s farewell party as he would have wanted, enjoyable. The undertakers Hoey & Sons were brilliant in all they helped us with. Also we want to thank Rev. Tom Telfer who helped us enormously in conducting the service beautifully. All the donations to Marie Curie were so very generous and we thank you all so much.
MACKINTOSH – The family of the late Joan MacKintosh (Corran) wish to thank Msgr MacKinnon, Fr Connor and Fr Johnstone and Abbeyfield Nursing Home, Ballachulish, for giving Joan such a peaceful ending, Craig Nevis Surgery, Home Care, “Talk Lochaber”, the local District Nurses, Carr Gomm and Sheila Crilley, also Aonghas Grant and Kevin Cameron for the lovely music, it was very much appreciated. Our grateful thanks also to Charlie Toal and John McLellan Funeral Directors for their excellent funeral arrangements.
MACLEAN – Marie and family would like to thank friends, relatives and neighbours for all the kind wishes, cards and flowers they received following their sad loss of David (Tiger). Thanks to McDonald Bros for the beautiful flowers, to Alyson Stewart for her comforting service and support. WOOD – Cathie and family would like to thank most sincerely all the doctors and nursing staff at the Mid Argyll Community Hospital for the great care and kindness shown to Robert and all the family during his time there. Thanks to Donald MacDonald Funeral Directors for their professional and sympathetic services, with special thanks to Roddy and Fiona; to Margaret Sinclair for the lovely service at Cardross; to all friends and neighbours for the comforting cards and flowers, and to all who attended the funeral service at Cardross Crematorium on Wednesday, it was greatly appreciated and comforting to see you all there. The retiral collection raised over £450 for Glenaray Ward, Mid Argyll Hospital and for the Renal Unit at the Vale of Leven Hospital. God Bless you all.
