MARRIAGES
SUTHERLAND – MACCOLL – On October 19, 2019 at Drumossie Hotel, Inverness, Lyndsay Violet, daughter of Ronnie and Mary, Appin to Jimmy, son of Robert and Jane, Brora. A lovely day was had by all.
DEATHS
BRODIE – Malcolm (Mackie). Suddenly but peacefully in Forth Valley Royal Hospital on Tuesday, October 29, 2019, Malcom of Tyndrum. Beloved husband of the late Kathleen. Loving and much loved dad to Carole and Allan. Mackie will be sorely missed by all who knew him. He was a great friend to so many. Funeral service will be held on Monday, November 11, 2019 in Killin Parish Church at 11a.m. thereafter to Killin Cemetery, to which all family and friends are warmly invited. Family flowers only donations if desired to Scottish Charity Air Ambulance.
CAMERON – Peacefully at St. Margaret’s Hospice, Clydebank on October 31, 2019, Christina Ann (Chrissie) née MacIntyre, formerly of Port na Mine and Kilvaree. Beloved wife of the late Neil, dear mum of Gregor and Angus, loving grandmother and great-grandmother. Funeral service at Luss Parish Church on Friday, November 8 at 11.00 a.m., burial thereafter in churchyard.
DAIRON – Sadly at home in Caraglio, Italy on November 2, 2019, in his 73rd year, after a long illness, David Carmichael, formerly of Oban, beloved husband of Ada, dear father to Michael and Jonathan, son of the late Andrew and Mary and brother of James, Lynn, Richard, Robert and the late Andrew. Much loved brother-in-law and uncle. Funeral service took place in Caraglio.
GOOCH – John of Hill House, Onich, died peacefully on Wednesday, October 30, 2019, following a stroke on Sunday in church, surrounded by family and friends who had gathered to celebrate his 90th birthday. The funeral will take place at Nether Lochaber Parish Church on Saturday, November 9 at 12 noon. All welcome. Donations to West Highland Museum.
McNAB – Peacefully at home after a long illness, on October 27, 2019, in his 75th year, George McNab, beloved husband of June, a much loved Dad and Papa. Funeral will take place from Mallaig & Morar Community Centre on Wednesday November 13, thereafter to Beoraid Cemetery, Morar.
SIMERS – Peacefully, at the Mid Argyll Hospital, on October 29, 2019, with his family by his side, Willie Simers, in his 73rd year, of Myfanwy, 2 Kilduskland Road, Ardrishaig, beloved husband of Jean, much loved dad of Karen and Claire, adored papa of Jodie, Iain, Jamie, Jack and Emma, and a much respected father-in-law of John and Graeme. Faithful companion to Isla. A good neighbour, work colleague and dear friend to many. Funeral service was held in Ardrishaig Parish Church, on Monday, November 4, 2019, followed by interment at Achnabreac Cemetery. Forever in our thoughts.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
MACPHERSON – Tina and the family of the late Fred MacPherson would like to thank all friends and family from Argyll and beyond who have sent cards, flowers and messages of support at this sad time. It was lovely to see so many who were able to make the journey down to Ayr to join us for the funeral service. Special thanks to the Rev Jeff McCormick who kindly conducted a very personalised and appropriate celebration of Fred’s life and to Frazer Hare, Funeral Directors, Stranraer for compassionate and efficient funeral arrangements. In the last few months Fred received a high level of care from medical staff, Carers and Marie Curie nurses to all of whom we are very grateful. The amount of £512 has been donated to Marie Curie Nurses.
