More than £8,000 of fireworks illuminated Oban Bay on Tuesday night, with some of the estimated 4,000 strong crowd saying it was the best firework display they had seen.
However, spectators were left saying ‘is that it?’ after the first minute, when a cluster of fireworks went off at once.
Some thought it was a mistake, others said it was because of the boat coming into the bay but, in reality, it was a cunning ploy organised by BID4Oban.
BID wanted to recreate the infamous ‘Obang’ display in 2011, which saw all the fireworks being set off within a minute by mistake.
Video footage of that display has since been seen by millions of people online.
This year’s firework night received a £6,000 boost from a Scottish Sea Farms Heart of the Communities award.
The company also had a stall at the station and were handing out ECO cups.
