Kyokushinkai Karate

Instructor Iain Rodger attended the prestigious British Open Knockdown tournament at the K2 arena in Crawley on October 5 to oversee the IKKU team that had entered from around the UK. The team came away with a third place in the men’s heavyweight section, courtesy of Chris McAllister from the organisation’s Melton Mowbray dojo.

Entries have started to come in for the junior tournament in Lochgilphead on November 10.

Preparations have also started for the Scottish Open Adult knockdown karate tournament in Glasgow on February 29 2020. This event, organised by Iain Rodger, attracts fighters from all over Europe. The event will be held in the ARC Health and Fitness centre in Cowcaddens Road.

The club’s next intake of beginners will be at the start of January to allow those already training to concentrate on their work for the next grading test in December.

Members are preparing for the tournament in Lochgilphead on Sunday November 10.

Classes are on Wednesdays and Sundays and beginners from age five upwards are always welcome.
