Oban – United Auctions on Wednesday October 16 held a sale of 215 shearlings and 30 ram lambs of all breeds. Quality rams were keenly bid for resulting in a very good clearance.

Fort William – Dingwall and Highland Marts Ltd on October 19 sold 198 weaned calves and store cattle, 20 OTM cattle and five adult head of breeding cattle.
Bullocks (116) averaged 197.6p and sold to 252.4p per kg for a pair of 210kg Limousin crosses from Keil Farm, Ardgour, and £800 gross for a 400kg Limousin cross from 8, 9 and 10 Cuilchenna. Onich. Heifers (81) averaged 180.5p and sold to 307.7p per kg for a 195kg Shorthorn cross from Ardtornish Farms, Oban, and £860 gross for a 510kg Limousin cross from 4 Back of Keppoch, Arisaig.
Young bulls (one) sold to 154.4p per kg and £400 gross for a 259kg Highland cross from Upper Glenfintaig Estate, Glenfintaig. Breeding cattle (5) sold to £1,100 gross for a Limousin cross cow with a male calf at foot from Dalreoch, Roy Bridge. OTM cattle (20) sold to 123.0p per kg and £830 gross for a 675kg Aberdeen Angus cross cow from Breakachy, Laggan.

Islay – United Auctions on Thursday October 17 sold 1002 head of all classes of sheep. Lambs averaged £50.00 (+£2.06) per head and 138.42p/kg (n/c). An excellent entry of Blackface Lambs sold to a keen ringside of buyers. All other classes sold well and above sellers expectations.

Islay – United Auctions on Thursday October 17 sold 278 calves. 137 Bullock calves averaged £675.95 (-£15.61) to £1010 for a 398Kg Lim cross from Ardnave Farm and averaged 229.58p/kg (+1p) to 304p/kg for two 296kg Lim crosses from Ardnave. 141 heifer calves averaged £595.32 (+£14.94) to £900 for a 340kg Lim cross from Ardnave and averaged 209.67p/kg (n/c) to 287p/kg for a 272kg Lim cross also from Ardnave Farm. A good following of mainland buyers ensured all stock sold at levels above sellers expectations. The entry of calves were mainly spring born and were of superior quality.
