Seven-year-old Lucie Spreadbury, of Oban’s Bun-sgoil Achadh na Creige, won the poetry gold medal for girls aged 7-8 learners, reading ‘Mucan beaga beaga’: ‘A Wee Pig’. She may be getting used to winning, having taken a gold in the mod in Oban and a silver on Mull, but her mum Hazel Kelso still ‘almost cried’ with pride. Four of Lucie’s sisters are competing throughout the week.
