Careless Driving

About 10.30pm on Friday September 27 and 1.30am on Sunday September 29 on Main Street, Bowmore, a woman, 19, and a man, 17, were allegedly driving at excess speed and in a careless manner. Both were charged and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

Attempted housebreaking 

About 3am on Tuesday September 24 an attempt was allegedly made to enter a property in the Lochandhu Road area of Taynuilt.  The householder was woken by the noise of items falling from a window sill and the person responsible left without entry having been gained. Police are investigating the incident.

Vehicle damaged

Between 8pm on Monday September 23 and midnight on Tuesday September 24 a Citroen Car was damaged in the Castle Road area of Dunollie, Oban. Police are investigating.

Vehicle seizure

About 2pm Wednesday September 25, a Mercedes van was stopped by police on George Street, Oban.  Checks revealed the driver allegedly did not possess a driving licence and there was no insurance in force for the vehicle.  The 27-year-old driver was charged with the offence and the vehicle was seized. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

Abusive behaviour

About 11.40pm on Wednesday September 25 police were called to Shore Street where a man was allegedly causing a disturbance. On arrival, police arrested a 45-year-old man and a  report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal


In the early hours of Friday September 27 entry was forced to a drinks storeroom at The Claredon Hotel, Shore Street, Oban and a quantity of alcohol allegedly stolen from within. Police attended and a 41-year-old man who had been staying at the hotel was arrested and charged with the offence. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

Between September 15 and 28 a wooden collection box and money was allegedly stolen from Kilchattan Church, Bonawe. Police are investigating.


About 11pm on Saturday September 28, a 39-year-old man was stopped in Albany Street, Oban and allegedly found to be in possession of Cannabis. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.


About 2.15am on Saturday September 28 following a report of a man assaulting another man in Station Square, Oban, a 24-year-old man was arrested. The man was later charged with assault and a report was submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

About 10.15pm on Saturday September 28 after being ejected from the bar of The Scarinish Hotel, Tiree, a man allegedly forced his way back into the bar and assaulted a member of the bar staff. He was restrained by staff until police arrival when he was arrested. The 34-year-old man was charged with the offence and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal


About 10.15pm on Saturday September 28 a man allegedly damaged a room door within The Queens Hotel, Oban. Police were called and a 48-year-old man was identified and traced nearby. The man became verbally abusive to officers and was subsequently arrested and later release on an undertaking to appear at court on a later date.

Careless driving

About 3.40pm on Sunday September 29 a crash occurred on the A85 near to Awe Filling Station where a car allegedly turned right across the path of an oncoming motorcycle. The 19-year-old driver was identified at the scene and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal
