Dalmally sale, Saturday September 21: United Auctions held a sale of 3,045 lambs and sheep.  In keeping with current market trends prevailing in prime markets, bigger lambs were slow to cash while smaller sorts maintained their values against last year.  This resulted in the sale average being £1.81 p/head back on the corresponding sale last year whilst levelling out at £36.96.

Fort William, Dingwall and Highland Marts Ltd, September 21: sold 542 weaned calves and store cattle, 19 OTM cattle and 13 adult head of breeding cattle.

Bullocks (318) averaged 220.3p (-29.5p on the year) and sold to 285.7p per kg for a pen of 245kg Charolais crosses from Ardtornish Farms, Morven, and £915 gross for a 515kg Limousin cross from Fersit, Roy Bridge.

Heifers (224) averaged 190.9p (-30.8p on the year) and sold to 229.1p per kg for a pen of 275kg Charolais crosses from Ardtornish Farms, and £870 gross for a 460kg Limousin cross from Fersit.

Breeding cattle (13) sold to £920 gross for a Shorthorn cross in calf heifer from 19 Portnalong, Carbost.

OTM cattle (19) sold to 114.5p per kg for a 655kg Aberdeen Angus cross cow from Ardtornish Farms, and £790 gross for a 835kg Aberdeen Angus cross cow also from Ardtornish Farms.

United Auctions sold 2018 lambs and sheep at their second sale held at Lochboisdale Auction Mart.  Lambs were shown in good bloom and the sale average was £40.57 which recorded a drop of £1.78 on the corresponding sale last year.

Portree, Dingwall and Highland Marts Ltd, September 23, sold 1,379 weaned calves and store cattle at their annual district ballot show and sale.

The judge MR J. Cowie, Nicholson Park, Fordyce, awarded the champion to a seven month old, 320kg, Limousin cross bullock from Mr M. A. Macdonald, Meadle, Struan realising £900. The reserve from Mr C. Morrison, 5 Portnalong, Carbost, was a seven month old, 320kg, Limousin cross bullock realising £960.

Bullocks (749) averaged 220. 9p (-28.8p on the year), and sold to 314.3p per kg for a 210kg Limousin cross from 1 Feorlig, Dunvegan, and £980 gross for a 505kg Charolais cross from 15 Glenconon, Uig.

Heifers (623) averaged 201.4p (-21.7p on the year) and sold to 256.0p per kg for a 250kg Limousin cross from Ose Farm, Struan, and £940 gross for a 500kg Charolais cross from 15 Glenconon.

Young Bulls (7) sold to 228.9p per kg for a pair of 190kg Limousin cross from 7 Kingsburgh, Snizort, and £590 gross for a 310kg Limousin cross from Meadle, Struan.
