The Ben Cruachan Inn at Lochawe scooped a win at the sixth annual Food Awards Scotland.

The awards were held in the Marriott Hotel, Glasgow, on Monday August 26 and recognised professionals and establishments with a range of awards and accolades from across the vibrant Scottish food scene.

The Ben Cruachan Inn, which reopened after a full refurbishment in 2017, has grown its culinary reputation for high quality, locally sourced food and has proved popular with residents and tourists.

Members of the team behind the award-winning pub attended the awards dinner already very proud of their nomination in the Gastro Pub category which was voted for by the public.

Co-owner Tracey Peedle commented: ‘We were so pleased to have been nominated by the public as it shows that people are really enjoying what we set out to create by bringing the pub back to life after many years of disrepair.

‘To walk away with the win of Gastro Pub of the Year for the Central Scotland region came as a fantastic surprise and we couldn’t be more delighted.’

Co-owner Steve McDonald added: ‘These awards celebrate the very best in the Scottish food industry, the servers, the specialists and suppliers.

‘There’s so much team effort behind what makes the Ben Cruachan Inn tick, from our incredibly hard-working staff to the choices made on the menu,
suppliers and more.

‘We just want to say a huge thank you to all our staff and supporters for their part in this win.

‘We feel very excited about the future and our role in the Argyll hospitality

Irfan Younis, CEO of the company behind the 2019 awards said: ‘Scotland offers a wide range of places that serve world cuisines.

‘The finalists were voted for by the public for providing authentic recipes and unique dishes to their diners, creating memorable experiences for both residents and visitors.

‘For this year’s awards, we welcomed and rewarded some of the best in the Scottish food industry who serve us up some of the tastiest food, enhance our culture, deliver top quality customer service and provide us with some of the best banter around.’

The Ben Cruachan Inn recently received its Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence based on its number of 5-star reviews and was given the Silver Award for Green Tourism earlier this year.
