There was a fantastic display of youth shinty at Spean last weekend with a good number of supporters turning out to watch the Donnie MacLean Sixes competition.

Some of the Fort team had returned triumphant from Oban the day before and were raring to take to the field again.

Coach Richard Shaw had a great squad with him – Jack Kearney, Ben Corner, Ryan Cairns, Cam Stephen, Rhys Kennedy, Archie MacKinnon, Max Kelly, Arran Stephen, Ben Britton and James Clark.

The team knuckled down to business with the following results:
Fort 2, Lovat 0; Fort 4, Strathglass 0; Fort 6, Kilmallie 0; Fort 0, Kinlochshiel 1; Fort 0 Newtonmore 0; Semi Final – Fort 1 Inverness 1 (Fort won on penalties). Final – Fort 1 Kinlochshiel 2.

Well done everyone and to the victors, Kinlochshiel.

Thanks to Lochaber for hosting another successful Donnie MacLean Sixes and to Paul and Elspeth for presenting the medals and trophy.
Best wishes go to Ryan Cairns who took a knock during extra time in the final.
