We’re into the last week of the school summer holidays already … where has the time gone?

I was lucky enough to have a staycation last week and the weather was amazing. It was lovely to be able to just relax and wander about in the sun, sitting outside drinking tea and eating cake, which I must admit is one of my very favourite things to do, and we have so many great places to accommodate me.

The other thing I really enjoyed was a trip to the cinema to see Yesterday. If you haven’t seen it yet, I would highly recommend it. It is one of those films where you come out feeling happy and energised.

We also ate out quite a lot because I refused to cook as I was on holiday and, again, we were spoiled for choice. I’ve enjoyed pizza, seafood and fish and chips beside the sea.

I’ve enjoyed my holiday so much that I’ve decided if we’re lucky enough to get a day off when it’s sunny we should treat it as if we’re on holiday and do the things that holiday makers do, from a trip to the sea for a paddle to a wee ferry trip to Mull or a picnic on Kerrera.

It’s fantastic what a proper day away from everyday life can do. Forget about the housework and chores, they’ll be there tomorrow but we live on the West Coast of Scotland and have to make the most of the nice days we get.

The photo last week was of one of the beautiful flower boxes outside Coast Restaurant on George Street and this week’s is really easy too.
