The team at Mallaig Pool and Leisure were delighted that the Friends of Mallaig Pool tea tent at the recent Running Festival raised more than £1,000 towards a refurbishment.
The team said: ‘Thanks to all those who baked, particularly Hana McNeill from What’s For Afters? her amazing tray-bakes, and the fabulous homemade tablet she donated to all runners on registration – you’ve got to admit that was sweet. She’s a really talented baker and we are so lucky to have her support. And thanks to everyone who spent money munching and slurping.
‘Big thanks as ever to our legendary Friends Joan Smith, Michelle MacDonald, Helen McDonell, Jane Foster, Jane Rushton and Heather Sinclair for making, baking, pouring and slicing. No event would be the same without you (especially the banter).’
The tea tent also appeared at Arisaig Highland Games last Wednesday and at Mallaig and Morar Highland Games on Saturday, adding to the fundraising total.
The Friends have many ways to raise funding. Their 500 Club was not only set up for this purpose but also to give the supporters a chance to win a cash prize.
If you wish to be part of the 500 Club for only £5 per month please contact the leisure centre for more information, or download the application form from our website mallaigleisure.org.uk.
