The President of Royal British Legion Scotland will be visiting Seil next month to official open the Easdale branch’s annual sale.

The event is on Saturday August 24 from noon to 3pm at Seil Island Hall. General Sir Alastair Irwin will be doing the honours.

Branch secretary Jean Alexander said: ‘Our little branch has done so well over the last few years raising funds for the Veterans Charities and Poppy Scotland, that he wanted to meet us and has agreed to open the sale.

‘We raised £2,500 this last year which has been distributed between five charities and also £1,599 was collected for Poppy Scotland last November.

‘Where other Legion branches are closing down we are going from strength to strength with  the great support we receive from the local community.’

Branch members have restarted regular meetings at the Tigh an Truish on Seil, the first time for two years as the pub was being refurbished.

‘The Branch has met in the T&T for many, many years, and it is good to be back,’ added Mrs Alexander.
