Don’t put it off any longer…now’s the time to prepare for BREXIT.
Earlier this year, Liz Cameron, chief executive of Scottish Chambers of Commerce, responded to the parliamentary defeat of the ‘Meaningful Vote on the Brexit Withdrawal Agreement and Political Declaration’, by saying: ‘Business and industry have been navigating an economic and political landscape that is no clearer now than it was at the time of the referendum result.
‘Therefore, the priority for the UK Government and the Parliament must be to avoid the clear risks a ‘no deal’ exit would pose to businesses.’
Fast-forward six months to present day and, with the future leader of our country still not known, businesses in the UK continue to wait for their future trading environment to come into focus.
But businesses can and should act now. There are important steps that all businesses can do to prepare.
Although no one knows what will happen, the Scottish Government’s new www.prepareforbrexit.scot website is a simple-to-use tool to help prepare for the risks, rewards and challenges of the new economic landscape.
The site is split into three easy-to-use sections:
1. START PLANNING: A self-assessment tool to help you think through and prepare based on your business needs. Your answers to the self-assessment create a report for your business.
2. WHERE ARE WE NOW?: Up-to-date information on the changing BREXIT situation and what it means for Scottish business.
3. FINANCIAL SUPPORT: find out if you’re eligible and apply for a Brexit Support Grant of up to £4,000 for small and medium-sized businesses.
Don’t wait any longer! Take action today to think through your business options and make sure your business is ready to face the future.
Come along to our next Chamber networking lunch on Thursday July 25, to chat to fellow businesses and find out how we can help support you in your business.
