Theft of bicycle

Between June 28 and July 5 a black Saracen Sportline mountain bike was stolen from a back garden at Corran Brae, Oban. Police are investigating and are appealing for any witness.

Possession of drugs

About 11.15am on Monday July 8, at Stevenson Street, Oban, a 37-year-old man was searched and found to be in possession of cannabis. The man was issued with a recorded police warning.


About 1.30pm on Monday July 8, a 50-year-old man stole a quantity of alcohol from Lidl, Soroba Road, Oban. Police attended and the man was charged with the theft and issued with a recorded police warning.

Vehicle damaged

About 2.15am on July 8, in High Street, Oban, a silver Vauxhall Meriva
car was damaged by having both door mirrors smashed. Police are investigating.

Abusive behaviour

About 1am on July 11, in Victoria Crescent, Oban, a man aged 30 was arrested for behaving in an abusive manner. The man was charged and issued with a recorded police warning.

Cocaine allegation

At about 4.20pm on July 13, on the A85 at Pennyfuir, Oban, a man, 47, was searched and was allegedly found to be in possession of cocaine. The man was charged, held for court and a report was submitted to the procurator fiscal.

Theft of car

A black Nissan Qashqai was stolen from Texa Crescent, Port Ellen, Islay, between about 8pm on Saturday July 13 and 9am on Sunday July 14. The vehicle was subsequently found damaged in a ditch on the Kintra Road. Police are investigating.

Reckless conduct

About 9.30pm on July 12, in a marquee at the Tiree Music Festival, a 23-year-old man allegedly activated a smoke bomb. The man was traced and charged with the offence and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.

Alleged assault

At about 3.30am on July 14, a 29-year-old man was arrested for allegedly behaving in an abusive manner and assaulting a woman. The man was also allegedly found in possession of cannabis and cocaine. He was charged, held for court and a report was submitted to the procurator fiscal.
