The Scottish Farms Advisory Service is offering an Introduction to Auction Marts at Portree Mart on Monday July 22, from 10am to 3.30pm.
The event is designed for those who have not yet bought or sold through a mart, as well as those who would like to build a little confidence around sale day. Sale days are busy, noisy and can be stressful, but they are also fun, exciting and a great social occasion.
Speakers from Dingwall and Highland Marts and consultants from the Scottish Agricultural College will run through the whole process, from choosing and preparing sale stock, through the practicalities of getting stock organised at the mart, selling them through the ring, and how to collect sale money.
Activities will be both on croft and at the Portree Mart, so suitable clothing and footwear that can be disinfected should be worn. Lunch is provided, but booking is essential for catering. To book visit www.fas.scot/events
