Local MSP Kate Forbes will again clock up more than 2,500 miles during the Scottish Parliament’s recess as she travels across her vast Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch constituency on her annual summer tour.
Ms Forbes is making a special effort to visit the far-flung corners of her constituency, which cannot always be reached when Holyrood is sitting due to the extended distances, as she meets with community groups, businesses and residents during July and August.
During the tour – which helps to inform and shape her priorities for the coming parliamentary year – she will also be holding 59 surgeries in Badenoch, Ross-shire, the Black Isle, Skye, Raasay and Lochalsh, the Great Glen and Lochaber and the Small Isles.
‘It is that time of the year again when I hit the road and get around the constituency,’ Ms Forbes told us.
‘The rest of the year I have to spend three full days a week in Edinburgh so during the parliamentary recess I can spend all of my time in the constituency.
‘As usual, I will spend several days in each area holding surgeries, visiting organisations and meeting people. I represent a constituency that is 11,863 square kilometres, full of small villages and communities.
‘I want to ensure that every corner of the constituency is well represented and I look forward to getting out this summer. Obviously, I am always available by email or telephone if anybody would like to get in touch.’
