A man who was six times over the drink drive limit has been banned from behind the wheel for three years and fined £500.
Peter Campbell, of 9 McMillan Court, Ardrishaig, pleaded guilty at Oban Sheriff Court last week.
The 31-year-old admitted driving his car along Stevenson Street in Oban on April 28 this year after drinking so much alcohol that a breath test showed up 132 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, the limit is 22 microgrammes.
Solicitor Laura McManus said Campbell had demonstrated remorse and sought help from the addictions service.
‘Until the offence happened he didn’t realise alcohol was a problem for him,’ she said.
Campbell’s Ford Fiesta was forfeited, his licence was endorsed and his three-year driving ban will be reduced by nine months if he passes a drink driver rehabilitation course that he will have to fund himself.
