Mull-based Island Bakery Organics has had its lemon melts named the best Scottish organic product at this year’s Best of Organic Market (BOOM) Awards.
Announced on Wednesday night (June 26) at a prestigious ceremony in London, prizes were awarded to food and drink products judged on their taste and quality by expert panels from the industry.
Island Bakery’s delicious lemon melts impressed judges, helping them secure their spot as overall winner of the best Scottish Organic Product.
Joe Reade, of Island Bakery Organics, said: ‘Lemon melts are our star product. They’re our bestseller, and we’ve been making them ever since we started. They’re Dawn’s invention, who came up with our recipes in the kitchen when we first started. We’re a little manufacturing bakery, we just make biscuits, and everything we do is organic.
‘For us the most positive story to tell about organics is the sustainability story. It’s one way that you can help ensure there is a healthy planet in the future.’
Island Bakery’s lemon melts have seen previous success at the BOOM awards, winning the coveted Nation’s Favourite award in 2017.
Joe added: ‘It’s brilliant, because it’s one of those things which helps a small brand like us. We don’t have a marketing department, so awards like this are really valuable.’
