Stag Bakeries in Stornoway is celebrating after being named Wholesale Baker of the Year and securing its place as the best Wholesale Baker in the country.
‘We are delighted, absolutely delighted,’ said the company’s Daniel Smith. ‘Our customers voted for our products and we could not be more grateful to win but in order to take the title of Wholesale Baker of the Year it is our whole operation that is judged. So to win this title simply goes to show our products, our staff and our whole ethos as a business is spot on. Thank you to everyone who has played a part in our on-going success.’
Following the votes of more than 8,000 bakery customers across Scotland and a rigorous day of blind judging by 50 of the industry’s top professionals, the bakery scooped Wholesale Baker of the Year, Best Bread in Scotland for its plain loaf, and regional bronze in the Highlands in the biscuit category for their water biscuit.
Alasdair Smith of Scottish Bakers, who organise the competition, said, ‘This prize is very well deserved, the whole team should be very proud.’
